Adobe Responds to Apple's New Rules

NetApp settles suit with Oracle

NetApp (NMS:NTAP) sued Sun Microsystems, now a unit of Oracle (NMS:ORCL), in '07 contending Sun was unfairly accusing it of infringing on three patents tied to Sun's Zettabyte File System, which manages stored data. Sun countersued. The companies didn't disclose terms. NetApp dipped 0.2% to 46.33. Oracle edged up 0.8% to 24.33.

ARM Holdings unveils new chip

Texas Instruments , Samsung and ST-Ericsson are the first licensees for ARM Holdings' (NMS:ARMH) new chip, which is billed as capable of boosting smart phone performance by five times. ARM shares surged 4.1% to 18.83.

Cortex-A15 Processor Extends ARM's Reach

Though ARM already dominates the smartphone processor market segment, the company clearly hopes that device makers will tap the new Cortex-A15 MPCore processor to run in a significantly wider array of offerings -- from next-generation smartphones, tablets, and digital home entertainment devices to wireless base stations and enterprise infrastructure -- beginning in 2012.
