European chip sector views cut

Wed, 08 Sep 2010 22:48:00 GMT Investor's Business Daily - LED makers Aixtron AG (NMS:AIXG) and Veeco Instruments (NMS:VECO) tumbled after they were downgraded by Avian Securities, which said higher LCD inventories and weaker consumer spending in China would hurt their earnings. Aixtron fell 5.2% to 24.78 and Veeco tumbled 8.3% to 33.44. In addition, UBS downgraded the entire European semiconductor sector, citing decreasing demand in consumer electronics, especially for PCs.
